Oklahoma Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra
The purpose of the Oklahoma Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra is to create an educational ensemble for plucked string players comparable to public school marching band and orchestra. Participation in the Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra is open to students ages 10 and up who play plucked or hammered string instruments (acoustic guitar, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, dulcimer, etc.). The orchestra plans to develop a regular performance schedule, including performances at public schools and public events.
Membership in the orchestra is free. Private instrumental lessons with co-directors Kerry Folsom and Mark Nokes are available. The orchestra will make every effort to subsidize these lessons for orchestra members, especially those from low-income families.
The orchestra meets on the first and third Saturdays of each month at 12:00 PM at Sonder Music, Dance & Art.
