Jaime Jones (Piano, Composition)

Jaime Jones received her Bachelor’s in Music with Piano Performance Concentration at East  Central University in Ada, OK under Dr. Dennis Boe, Dr. Starla Hibler, and composer W.T. Skye Garcia. She received an MME in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma under Dr. Jane Magrath, Dr. Barbara Fast, and Dr. Jeongwon Ham. With prior study in flute and voice, Jaime takes into consideration the knowledge gained through piano and how it can augment the musicality of those musicians that are primarily dedicated to other instruments.

In 2007, Jaime received the Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Award in the advanced category for her early intermediate piano solo, Camel Ride. Hal Leonard then picked the piece for publication in the summer of 2008. Actively composing additional educational piano literature, she enjoys the challenge of incorporating necessary progressive elements while keeping the pieces entertaining and rewarding.

Jaime teaches students of all ages and maintains a membership in MTNA, and while it is not a requirement, this allows any traditional students interested in pursuing goals outside of personal enjoyment to perform in the OMTA District and State Achievement Auditions.
