Justin Conkling (Voice)

Justin ConklingMr. Conkling began his training early as a classical pianist, chorister, and vocal soloist while living in Alaska. At age 17, he made his first appearance in Europe, touring Italy’s great cathedrals under the baton of Ms. Renee Henderson. Mr. Conkling relocated to Oklahoma in 1996 and graduated from Moore High School in 1997. He was an All-State choir member through high school and also attended various arts camps including Oklahoma’s Quartz Mountain Summer Institute. After high school, Mr. Conkling began his collegiate music studies at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma under the leadership of Charles (Skip) Klingman (Voice), Charles Chapman (Choral/Organ) and the late Jim Breckenridge (Piano), to name a few. Mr. Conkling completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Sacred Music and another in Vocal Performance, and later finished his Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from said University. Between his degree programs he studied abroad in Bordeaux, France; completed an internship as a young adult artist for Tulsa Opera’s production of Faust, and was a featured soloist for a premier of a Mass with Canterbury Choral Society, in addition to other notable solo and collaborative performances. Mr. Conkling currently works as a church musician, accompanist, vocal coach, soloist and private music instructor. Mr. Conkling is versed in many forms of music ranging from Gregorian chant to jazz, gospel and rock. He has a firm belief in positive thought and strong work ethic, all the while bringing life to the music education experience.
